Volunteer Trauma Clinician

Position Summary:

My Covenant Place (MCP) is seeking licensed or graduate level therapists/clinicians to provide pro bono or volunteer counseling services to survivors of trauma, violence, and other life challenges. This opportunity is ideal for:

  • Recently retired therapists who want to give back.
  • New clinicians seeking hands-on experience with diverse client populations.
  • Professionals in need of free supervision to fulfill licensure requirements (for qualifying candidates).

As a Volunteer Clinician, you will play a crucial role in supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, homicide, shootings, stabbings, and other traumatic experiences. Your expertise will help clients heal, build resilience, and regain stability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide trauma-informed individual and/or group therapy to survivors of violence and their families.
  • Offer remote or in-person counseling sessions based on your availability and client needs.
  • Conduct mental health assessments and develop personalized treatment plans for clients.
  • Support clients experiencing grief, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and crisis-related stressors.
  • Utilize a HIPAA-compliant Electronic Health Record (EHR) system for easy documentation and session tracking.
  • Work collaboratively with MCP’s team to ensure survivors receive holistic and trauma-informed care.
  • Participate in optional peer consultations, staff/supervision meetings, or professional development as available.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a licensed or pre-licensed mental health professional (LCSW-C, LCPC, LMFT, LGPC, LMSW, PhD, PsyD, or equivalent).
  • Retired clinicians, new graduates, and pre-licensed therapists are encouraged to apply.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care.
  • Willingness to offer at least 4-8 hours per month (scheduling is flexible and clinician-led).
  • Must adhere to ethical, HIPAA, and confidentiality standards.
  • Must pass a background check.
